Educating young people about human rights can be practical, entertaining and inspiring. Various methods and innovative practices were demonstrated by experts from the Human Rights Academy, Norway – Lillian Hjorth and Evgenia Khoroltseva during a seminar in Sofia. Experts in the field of education from Gotse Delchev, Blagoevgrad, Montana and Varshets attended the training. Various activities were presented on topics such as freedom of expression, human rights in Europe and Bulgaria, history of human rights, women’s rights, children’s rights, participation of civil society, right to privacy and family life and other topics.

The platform www.humanrights-education.org was presented with developed training materials which were demonstrated and discussed during the seminar. The seminar was held on 29th of September and 1st of October 2021 as a continuation of a series of online seminars, that started in 2020 and related to the project “Increasing democratic competence and understanding of human rights among young people”. The project is implemented by the Partners Bulgaria Foundation in partnership with the Academy of Rights Human Rights, Norway with financial support provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area through the Active Citizens Fund.
